 The 7 th international symposium of engraved glass took place in Kamenický Šenov from 11 th September to 17 th September 2017.

Trip to Prague

 On 15 March 2017 students of the second grade together with German students from glass school in Reinbach visited Praque. The trip was focused on lectures of art history. They visited the Prague Castle, the St. Vitus Cathedraland the historical center of Praque.

Masterful Engravings of Bohemia

 Masterful Engravings of Bohemia

An exhibition to honour the craft of engraving and at the same time to mark the 160 th anniversary of the Moser Company established by the glass engraver Ludwig Moser was opened on 17 January in the Moser Art Gallery in the Old Town square in Prague. The exhibition also features works by our teachers and graduates. It will last until 30 April 2017.

Toni Mitkovski from Macedonia was another visiting student at our school who took the glass sculpture making course (15 – 21 of January 2017) led by Petr Stacho, MA. He expressed his deep satisfaction with the course and said he hoped to return to the school in the future.

Advent Trip to Dresden

On 14 December 2016 our school visited the Saxon metropole of Dresden. Students had an opportunity to see some of Dresden’s most significant sights and attractions including the world famous picture gallery of Zwinger as well as a unique open air advent market.

Visit from RHODE ISLAND SCHOOL OF DESIGN in our school

 Our school visited group of students from the Rhode Island School of Design (Glass Department). Six students came togeather with Professor Jocelyne C. Prince. The group visited our workshops and studios, as well as a rich collection of historical glassware in the school gallery. Warm atmosphere was complemented by meetings with graduates of our school Pavel and Klara Mrkus, which guided  american glassmakers . During the visit, we discused future cooperation with the University of RISD and our glass school.

In April 2012 further two foreign visiting students passed training in our school, following two Chinese students, who spent March in our school. That were Mrs. Batia Mach Shepherd, an Israeli sculptor, and Mr. Chester Lee, a Dutch teacher.

Some time ago I was described by the Mlada fronta newspaper editor Mr. Sebelka as a naive academic. There are no doubts that I deserve this description as fighting the evil and injustice almost always turns out to be a waste of effort, a pointless and therefore naive activity. However, to quote Mr. Jan Werich (a Czech famous actor), one needs to fight against stupidity out of principle, although we know it can’t be beaten ultimately.

From Febr. 20 - March 18, 2012 two visiting students from China were staying at our school. Mr. Zhu Li Min passed a glass cutting workshop and Mrs. Zhu Li Yue implemented her glass objects using the mould melted glass technique.

The Kamenický Šenov municipality will became the new home for five sixteen years old students from Alma Ata. Shinar, Nazerke, Sasha, Peri and Nikita arrived to Kamenický Šenov one by one according to the progress of their visa proceedings. Their stay is given by the co-operation with the Academy of Linguistic and Professional Preparation. Their initiall dream were either America or Germany, nevertheless, after they had learned more about the existence and qualities of the oldiest Glass School of Applied Arts in Kamenický Šenov, they decided to study there.

The Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports is going to keep its promises and save the Secondary Glass School of Applied Arts in Kamenicky Senov even though the Liberec Region won´t implement its plan regarding the optimalization of the net of secondary schools in the originally supposed extent.

Acad. Painter František Janák, the actual SUPŠS Kamenický Šenov deputy headmaster had been invited to the USA again to teach in glass centres during July and August. The František Janák´s first steps led to the Pittsburg Glass Centre, celebrating the 10th anniversary of its establishment just in this year.

In 2010 our glass school Kamenický Šenov established contacts with the Banking Institute University Ltd. Prague. A result of the cooperation was the order of glass gift items „I love money“ that should be multiple miniaturized models of a monumental billboard, a new symbol of the university (BIVŠ), situated in front of the BIVŠ building in Prague Stodůlky.

Workshop by an Australian Glass Artist Helen Stokes in Our School

On Sept. 29, 2010 Mrs. Helen Stokes, an Australian artist performed her workshop in our school. Mrs. Stokes, assisted by her friend from New York and former student Susan Abanor, showed our students and teachers her own way of making moulds for glass melting called honeycomb process.

In October 2010, during his professional stay at a prestigeous Beijing university Tsinghua the school headmaster František Janák agreed an itinerant sales exhibition of works by students and teachers of the Glass School in Beijing, Shanghai and Hong Kong. The main guarantee and partner of the project is the Blue Heaven Crystal Lighting from Shanghai, a company connected for years on business with Czech manufacturers of lighting assemblies and top-quality glass producers.

Already traditionally our school has participated in the competition National Prize for Student Design, held by the Design Cabinet CZ together with the Association of Secondary and Higher Professional Schools with Creative and Handicrafts Subjects, Society of Czech Architects, Union of Professional Designers CR and Union of Creative Artists CR. To the competition, final works of our students Žaneta Rychlá, Martina Doležalová and Kateřina Šípová were sent up.

On April 10, 2010 already third year of the competition of students of glass art departments of secondary professional schools, higher art professional and art academies was held.

Exchange Stay of Our Students within the Frame of the Leonardo Programme at the Staatliches Berufsko

 From November 8 to 21, 2009 a group of 10 students headed by Mgr.A. Petr Stacho visited our partner glass school at Rheinbach within the frame of the exchange program Leonardo. Above all, the students learned the classical technique of production of stained glass - composing of colored glass into lead. The implementation of individual designs was foregone by training at simpler patterns.

SUPŠS Exhibition in Weisswasser, Germany, Oct. 4 - Nov. 22, 2009

  The Glass Museum, the Municipality Kamenický Šenov administrative apparatus, the Secondary Glass School of Applied Arts Kamenický Šenov and the municipality and museum in Weisswasser, Germany prepared an exhibition "Glaskunstfachschule Kamenický Šenov", opened on Friday, Oct. 4, 2009 in the Glass Museum in Weisswasser.

 The For light - Světlo pro zítřek competition has been organized by the fair implementation management team - the ABF a. s. company together with the Světlo (Light) magazine. The competition was held within the For Electro fair, taking place together with the building fair For Arch from Sept. 22-26, 2009 in Prague Letňany. 

Sculpture for the President of the Czech Republic Mr. Václav Klaus

 By the order of the Kravaře v Čechách municipal office, SUPŠS Kamenický Šenov manufactured a crystal glass sculpture designed by the school headmaster František Janák, which has been donated to the President of the Czech Republic on the occasion of the conferment of the honourable citizenship.

Zwieseler Kölbel - a Prize Supporting the Young Generation Aug. 15 - Sept. 13, 2009

 Our school has took part in the competition and exhibition Zwieseler Kölbel in Bavarian Zwiesel. The exhibition opening ceremony together with awarding the prizes was hold on Friday, August 14. The theme of the competition was nature.

Summer Academy Bildwerk in Frauenau 2009

  Already for the second time, the headmaster František Janák has been teaching at the summer academy Bildwerk in Frauenau, Germany. For the first time, it was in 2007. During the holidays 2008 two students of the 3rd year, Martina Doležalová and Kateřina Šípová participated in the academy, first thanks to the scholarship for our school, received from the Bildwerk. 

Glass Cutting Department Head Mgr.A. Petr Stacho in China

 Thanks to the invitation of Zhu Li Yue, a Chinese student at the Tshighua University, Beijing, who visited our school with a group of her collegues, our pedagogue, the head of the cutting department Mgr.A. Petr Stacho passed within the scope of his self-improvement an extraordinary 17 days long tour of northwest China.

Workshop for Mexican Children

 Within the international project "The Czech Gate to Mexico 2009" a group of Mexican children stayed in Kamenický Šenov from April 3 - 4, 2009, hosted by the primary school Kamenický Šenov and the municipality of Kamenický Šenov. Our school organized a morning workshop for those children, where they could meet some glass techniques and make their own glass piece.

Success in the competition Craft and Art in Glass

 Again, our school has scored an important success! In the competition Craft and Art in Glass, held in Nový Bor, Lukáš Tejkl won the first place in the category Engraved Glass, Pavlína Hozáková won the third place in the category Painted Contemporary Glass as well as Johana Gabrielová did in the category Glass Object.

  The Secondary School of Glassmaking in association with the Julius Pufler's Press in Prague has published its first own large-format colour postcard featuring the Panska rock formation and pictures of students' works of glass. The postcard is available at the school shop.

Americans from Seattle at the Secondary School of Glassmaking in Kamenický Šenov

 vA group of eight students from the USA has been staying at the Glass School Kamenický Šenov from Monday, July 20 to Friday, July 31, 2009, accompanied by two instructors. The working workshop of these students has been organized by the Glass School together with the Pratt Fine Arts Center from Seattle. The working training program is oriented onto the glass melting mould making technology and basic skills in glass cutting.

100th anniversary of foundation of the cutting department at SUPŠS Kamenický Šenov

In 2010 our school will celebrate the 100th anniversary of the cutting department foundation. As the date of the celebration has been given the 29th May, 2010. 

Czech glass intensive summer 2009

 Pratt Fine Arts Center and the Kamenicky Senov School of Industrial Arts for Glass invite you to take your glass studies abroad. This two week intensive, taught by Czech Master Artists, is designed to teach students the true basics of traditional Czech glass. While in the hills of Northern Bohemia study the technical, intellectual and artistic processes of traditional Czech moldmaking, kiln casting and cold working. Dates July 19-31, 2009.

Contemporary European Glass Sculpture Exhibition "Connections"

 On Wednesday, May 6, 2009 a contemporary European glass sculpture exhibition Connections was opened in the Prague gallery Mánes. The exhibition shows works by 74 artists from all over Europe, chosen by curators from 7 countries. Among the artists, there are 42 Czechs and 32 foreigners.

Silver Medal of the MŠMT for acad. painter Karel Rybáček in memoriam

 Lately (April 2009), a former longstanding pedagogue and director of the Glass School Kamenický Šenov acad. painter Karel Rybáček (1931-2006) has been honored in memoriam with the First-Degree Silver Medal of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports for a consideration of SUPŠS. For this prominent award he was advised by the nominee selection committee and consequently confirmed by the minister. 

Open Door Day on Apr. 4, 2009

 On April 4, our school organized a spring open door day. The beautiful weather attracted numerous parents with children to visiting studios and workshops. Both children, their parents and relatives tried working with glass and/or drawing and modeling. 

International Competition of Glass Schools Sanssouci 2009

 In the facilities of Spa Resort Sanssouci in Karlovy Vary, second year of the students´ competition of glass schools with foreign participation was held from April 17 - 19. Some 50 students of secondary and higher schools and universities from the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary took part in it. Students competed in 2 categories - younger and older ones.

 SUPŠS Kamenický Šenov designed and manufactured official gifts for participants of the international conference Innovation and Creativity in the Program of Lifelong Learning. The conference will take place in Prague from May 6 - 7, 2009 within the scope of the Czech EU presidency. It is an official event of the European Commission. 

New Equipment in 2009

 Thanks to the contribution by the Preciosa Foundation the school was able to buy new glass processing equipment. 

Working Stay of the Partner School Rheinbach Students at SUPŠS in 2009

 From February 23 to March 13, 2009 our school was again visited by a group of students from our partner school Berufskoleg Rheinbach. The German students led by Czech teachers created both drawn sketches and clay models and learned to make moulds for glass melting. They also tried glass plate printing. A friend and supporter of both the associated schools Mr. Helfried Glössner visited the students. 

Important Visit from Moscow

  On March 11, 2009 our school was honoured by a visit of two representatives of Moscow universities, Mrs. Olga Krolenko from the Faculty of Architecture from the State University of Land Use Planning and Mrs. Irina Topchiy from the Moscow Architectonical Institute.

Appreciation of the Teacher Václav Hubert

 On March 26, 2009, on the occasion of the Day of Teachers, Mr. Václav Hubert, a former teacher at the SUPŠS Kamenický Šenov, obtained an appreciation of his long-term pedagogical activities from the Liberec region deputy governor for education, youth, physical training and sports Bc. Radek Cikl. The festive awarding was held in the Liberec Regional Authority headquarters.

Exhibition New Ware in Moscow

 The exhibition New Ware presenting results of the National Award for Students´ Design 2008, in which also our school has taken a share in the form of a table set by Pavla Bartáková, was moved from Stockholm to Moscow, where the Design Cabinet CZ would guest in the fair Design and Advertisement from April 15 - 18, 2009.

Secondary Glass School of Applied Arts Kamenický Šenov at the "For habitat 2009" fair in Prague

 At the display of the latest trends in the field of living and interior accessories "For habitat 2009", held from March 5 - 8, 2009 at the exhibition area Praha Letňany, also our school had its stand. Here, students of the Lighting Objects Design studio presented their terminal and final works. 

Students from the West Texas University at SUPŠS in Kamenický Šenov in 2009

  Within several last weeks three groups of foreign students changed in the glass school Kamenický Šenov, who passed numerous workshops and classes. From Jan. 26 a group of seven students from the Beijing university spent two weeks in our school, where they were interested especially in mould melted glass and glass cutting. On Febr. 22 a group of German students from the partner school Rheinbach came to our school for three weeks within the scope of the Leonardo program. 

Short Term Stay of Chinese students from a Beijing university at our school

 n Monday, January 25. 2009 a group of Chinese students from the Tsinghua University, Beijing, Faculty of Art and Design, arrived to our school for a two weeks stay. During the first week at our school, the Chinese students learned models and moulds manufacture for mould melted glass.

Open Door Day SUPŠS November 2008

 On Saturday, Nov. 15, 2008 our school opened its door for public again. Visitors could see all classrooms, workshops and studios. Also the school gallery and shop were opened, where there was possible to buy original products of our students. 

Glass Art Prize Gletscherprise 2008

 On Friday, Dec. 12, 2008 festive prize awarding was held in the Glass Museum in Frauenau, Germany, connected with the opening of the participating works. The prize is set by a Bavarian company Pöschl Tabak. This year, also glass artists from Czechia were invited to the competition for the first time. The theme was snuff bottles.

Successful at the Czech Grand Design 2008

  On Dec. 15, 2008 in the Světozor cinema in Prague a nomination evening of the Czech Grand Design was held. 

Exhibition New Ware in Stockholm

  From Jan. 15, 2009 - Feb. 20, 2009 an exhibition Nytt Gods, opening the European Union chairmanship of the Czech Republic, will be kept in the Czech Centre in Stockholm. The exhibition will present the contemporary Czech design. 

Workshop for the Children from the Primary School Kamenický Šenov Autumn 2008

 On Nov. 13, 2008 20 children from the PS Kamenický Šenov took part in a three-hours long workshop, in which they passed three SUPŠS workshops.

School Markets Autumn 2008.

 In this autumn our school has already traditionally taken part in three important school markets. These were markets Amos in Jablonec n. Nisou on Oct. 9 - 10, Educa in Liberec Oct. 30 - Nov. 1. and Quo Vadis in Česká Lípa Nov. 5 - 7. 

French students´ intership.

  From Oct. 15 - 22, 2008 24 students of a French glass school CERFAV in Vannes le Chatel spent their intership in our school. Vannes le Chatel is a small town situated in a glass region near Nancy.

Summer Academy Bildwerk in Frauenau 2008

 Thanks to teaching activities of the headmaster František Janák our glass school entered into cooperation with the summer academy Bildwerk in Frauenau, Germany. Headmaster Janák was invited to the Academy Bildwerk in summer 2007 and would be teaching there in summer 2009 as well.

Dominik Bíman School 2008

 From Oct. 6 - 9, 2008 the 8th year of the Dominik Biman School run over at the Higher Glass School and Secondary School Nový Bor under the auspices and leading of an outstanding glass engraver and medallist Acad. Sculptor Jiří Harcuba. Before the Dominik Biman had taken place in various sites both in the Czech Republic and abroad. 

Glastec Düsseldorf 2008

 From Oct. 22 - 25, another year of the international glass fair Glastec was held. At the fair our school was represented with two final works by Pavlína Horáková and Simona Panochová, students of the painting department. 

National Prize for Student´s Design 2008

 Table drinking set - the final work by Pavla Bartáková, a student at the cutting department of our school - was selected for the last round of the competition National Prize for Student´s Design 2008.

Summer Glass School in Pilchuck, the USA 2008

 The headmaster Acad. Painter František Janák was invited to teach together with an American artist Fritz Dreisbach in August at the summer glass school Pilchuck, Washington, the USA. Both the artists together led the glass blowing and cutting workshop Hot and cold, where students could try new processes when using graal and ariel techniques for their works. 

Trip to Kutná Hora

 On Oct. 7 students of our school took part in a day-trip to Kutná Hora. The tour was oriented especially on visiting of late-gothic monuments taught in the subject History of the Art Culture. The aim was also understanding of the importance of Kutná Hora in context of silver mining in the Mittle Ages and of all historical connections. 

The SUPŠS Kamenický Šenov successful at the Art and Interior exhibition

 From Oct. 9-12, 2008 a complex of selected modern design exhibitions of furniture, lighting assemblies and interior decors Art and Interior was held in the Exhibition Palace Prague. There the latest world trends and news in design were represented. Also our school was successful there.

Exhibition Glass and Light at Numina Gallery, Princeton, USA

 On October 10th 2008 an exhibition of our glass school was open at Numina Gallery at Princeton High School in USA. 

The 5th year of the International Symposium of Engraved Glass in Kamenický Šenov September 8 - 14, 2

ince 1996 triennial International Symposia of Engraved Glass have been organized oriented onto the traditional handicraft technique - glass decoration with engraving. The sympozia allow creative meetings and cooperation of artists, craftsmen, theoreticians and other interested persons from all over the world as well as support new ideas in the branch, discussions, contacts etc. A part of the Symposium is a parallel interpreted professional seminar, en exhibition of participants´ works in the Glass Museum, social and cultural events opened also for the public. 

1st Place for Monika Pernecká at the international exhibition Watches and Jewels

 Our school has again reached an excellent success! A graduate of the engraving department Miss Monika Pernecká won the first prize at the international exhibition Watches and Jewels kept from Oct. 1 - 4, 2008 in the fairground Incheba Expo Prague.

SUPŠ Kamenický Šenov at the "Tendence Fair" 2008

 The international interior fair "Tendence" was held from Sept. 11 -14, 2008 in the Letňany fair area. Leading world companies showed there a wide range of actual products including news in furniture, decorations, lightings etc. Our school presented an exhibition of lighting assemblies together with the VOŠUP and SUPŠ and SOŠ of Building and Gardening Prague.

Glass Fair at TGK

From May 23 - 24, 2008 a glass fair was held in Nový Bor and Skalice by the TGK company. Our school participated with an exhibition stand where two of our students headed by their teacher Jaroslav Šára showed glass engraving. Several our students also helped at the fair organizing and selling the TGK glass.  

Hollarova School Prague Students´short term stay at the SUPŠS Kamenický Šenov

 From June 7 - 11, 2008 the other part of the exchange stay between the SUPŠS Kamenický Šenov and the Václav Hollar Art School Prague.

The School-Leaving Exams 2008

 On Friday June 6th at 4 p.m. at the Glass Museum in Kamenicky Senov there will be an official opening of the exhibition of the final student works.

Exhibition My House My Castle Litoměřice 2008.

From May 1 - 4, 2008 a large exhibition My House My Castle was held at the exhibition ground Litoměřice. There the SUPŠS Kamenický Šenov was represented with an exposition of their students´works at the area of 35 square metres. A part of the exposition students´works were sold. 

Competition of Glass Schools in the Spa Hotelu Sanssouci in Karlovy Vary, April 8 - 20, 2008.

 In the premises of the spa hotel Sanssouci in Karlovy Vary the first year of a competition of art glass students from the whole Czech Republic will be held from Apr. 18 - 20. In Sanssouci the competition of glass students will be held every year.

Partnership of the SUPŠS Kamenický Šenov with the Hollar Graphic School Prague.

 From April 7 - 11, 2008 a group of our students took part in a week exchange attachment at the Hollar Graphic School Prague. The students learned all graphical techniques taught at the school and the whole week attended to the screenprinting technique. 

Evening drawing classes for the public

 Since early January 2008 evening drawing classes for the public have run in our glass school. The classes have been going on in regular periods, visited by a group of enthusiastic women from Kamenický Šenov. The classes have been led by experienced teachers acad.painter Petr Menš and Mgr.A Petr Stacho.

Excursion at the Moser glassworks Karlovy Vary on Dec. 4, 2007

  Our glass school cooperates with some important glassworks in the Czech republic. In this school year our students have been allowed to visit the Moser glassworks at Karlovy Vary. They saw over all parts of the works: hot shop, engraving, painting, cutting workshops as well as the new design department.

Working short term stay of our partner school Rheinbach students

  From February 18 - March 7, 2008 in our school we were hosting a group of 10 students from our partner school Rheinbach. They arrived with their teacher George Linden, changed after a week for Helfried Glössner for several days. 

Students enjoy themselves

 Besides their study duties students of our school find time also for entertainment. At the school they organized a Santa Claus merriment and in their boarding house a Christmas party a part of which was a presentation of witty video-clips filmed by themselves.

Trainee from Ghana

 At the beginning of November 2007 Mr. Michael Commeh from Ghana visited our school to pass a short training in glass techniques. Michael has been working for an university in Kumasi, Ghana where he would help to open a glass centre.

Turnov short term stay 2007

  From Nov. 11 to 16, 2007 a further, this time already fifth exchange short term stay between our school and the SUPŠ Turnov came through. On Sunday afternoon, Lenka Husárková, a student of the 3rd year, and Petr Kořínek, a student of the 4th year, together with their teacher Václav Zeman left for Turnov.

Open Doors Day 2007

On Saturday, Nov. 17, 2007 our school organized an Open Doors Day. A long queue of cars in front of the school proved an unusual interest of visitors welcomed by videoprojection at the entrance. Visitors were allowed to visit all classrooms, workshops and studios. 

Success in the competition FIGURA 2007

On October 29 results of the competition of secondary art schools FIGURA 2007 were solemnly declared at the SUPŠ sv. Anežky České in Český Krumlov. 

Markets of Secondary Schools

 Our glass school takes regularly part in markets of secondary schools. In this school year in autumn we have had a stand in the market of secondary schools Amos in Jablonec n. N., at the market Educa in Liberec and in the market Quo Vadis in Česká Lípa. 

Trip of the SUPŠS students to Vienna

Our glass school together with the glass school Nový Bor organized - as traditionally - an autumn trip of students to abroad. From October 19 to 21 we visited Vienna, the capital of Austria. Besides all the common showplaces and galleries - St. Stephen Cathedral, Albertinum, Belvedere, Pavilion of Secession, Schönbrunn and Hundertwasserhaus we visited also the shop and museum of the Lobmeyr company, that is closely connected with Kamenický Šenov. There, Mr. Peter Rath kindly described in detail the company history and showed us - despite the unfavorable weather - round the centre of Vienna. 

A competition for the logo of municipal parks

 Last year our students participated in a competition hold by the municipality of Kamenický Šenov. They had to design a logo for newly reconstructed municipal parks - Dvořáček´s and Janula´s ones. 

Visit of Partners in Rheinbach

On the occasion of the festive awarding at the 4th international exhibition Glaskunstpreis in Rheinbach the Club of Friends of the towns Rheinbach and Kamenický Šenov organized a trip from Sept. 13 to 16. In the trip several teachers of the SUPŠS headed by the director of the school took part. 

The School-Leaving Exams 2007

  From May 28 to June 1 the school-leaving exams were under way. On Monday students presented their final works and in the other days they underwent exams in obligatory subjects - history of art, glass technology, Czech and foreign languages.

Days of Saxony

 From Sept. 7 to 9, 2007 a student of our School Petra Schneiderová and a graduate of the School Roman Klinger participated in the presentation of the Liberec District at Days of Saxony in Reichenbach, Germany. This town is situated some 250 km from the Czech border. Both participants were accompanied by a teacher Rudolf Kment who was also responsible for the transport.

Cooperation of the School with the famous glass artist René Roubíček

 Nowadays a teacher and head of the cutting workshop of our Glass School Mgr. Josef Kříž is finishing a cut plate which is a free replica of the famous work designed in 1957 by Miluše Roubíčková for Expo 58 in Brussels.

Another significant success of our School!

  The final work of our graduate Vojtěch Starosta "Hands" won the first place in the prestigeous 4th international exhibition Glas Preis in German Rheinbach. Besides the same work won also the third prize "Alexandra Bruns" chosen by visitors. It is worth to notice that the sculpture was chosen for the exhibit of the year 2006 in the Glass Museum Kamenický Šenov - see our web archive.

Success of our School at the Student's Symposium!

 From June 8 - 18, 2007 the International Symposium of Schools of Applied Arts was held in the Liberec District. A student of our School, the Department of Lighting Objects Design, Petr Kořínek won there two acknowledgements for his table lighting unit Gemini. 

Glass Festival in Nový Bor

  In the weekend of June 22 to 24, 2007 the Glass Festival was held in the square in Nový Bor. On Saturday the SUPŠS Kamenický Šenov was represented there by a stand showing glass engraving. 

StreTech 2007 - A Meeting and Presentation of Students of Secondary Schools at the ČVUT in Praha.

On June 20, 2007 a student of the Lighting Objects Department Michaela Pokorná together with the head of the Department Martina Klimošová participated in the presentation of works of students of secondary schools at the ČVUT Praha.  

Further Achievement of Our School!

  The SUPŠS Kamenický Šenov achieved the "Special Prize of the Exhibition" for its display at the exhibition Habitation Litoměřice. The prize was awarded by a jury representing the Exhibiting Company Ltd. Litoměřice, the Municipal Office Litoměřice and the Receptář journal. The exhibition showed furniture, glass, ceramics and paintings. It was held from June 1 - 3, 2007. Our students showed glass engraving and the Tiffany technique during the exhibition at Litoměřice.

Success of our School at the exhbition Art & Interior Praha

  From April 26 to 29, 2007 already the eighth exhibition ART & INTERIOR was held in the Fair Palace in Praha. Students of our School, department Design of lighting objects, exhibited their works at the exhibiting stand of "Světlo - Light" - a professional journal for lighting assemblies and technologies. Our School has successfully cooperated with the editorial staff and published there its reports.

Students´short term stay from our partner school Berufskoleg Rheinbach, Germany

 From April 16 to May 6, 2007, our School organized a short term stay of ten students from our partner School in Rheinbach. The German students were learning to make moulds for glass melting according to their designs. They tested various types of mould constructions including the lost wax technique.

New School Car

  In late April our School bought a new school car Fiat Dobló. The School missed an own car. Fiat Dobló is a seven-seat van with a really spacious variable layout. The new car was festively christened and we do believe it will reliably serve our purposes.

New Sandblasting Box

  In late April the 1st Toušeňská company has lent our School a new, advanced sandblasting box for the test period of one month. If it proves good it would be bought by the School. 

Trip to Spain

 In the early April of the year students of our School could visit sights of Spain. The School organized a nine-days trip to Catalonia. In the journey also a students group from the Glass School Nový Bor took part. The accommodation was booked in a seaside resort Lloret del Mar. 

A book Glass and Light

 Books by Antonín Langhamer and Milan Hlaveš were published on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the SUPŠS Kamenický Šenov. The describe the complete history of the School up to now. The text is accompanied with top colour photographs by outstanding Czech photographers, graphic layout by Jana Hrachová.

Practical excursion

 On March 23, 2007, pupils from the Primary School U Lesa Nový Bor carried out a "practical excursion" in our school. In it pupils of three classes - 6.B, 5.B and 4.B - took part together with their pedagogue Mgr. Dana Mouchová (form mistress of 4.B). Professional assistance in the cutting workshop done by DiS. Vojtěch Novák. In workshops children worked with teachers of the SUPŠS Mgr. Josef Kříž, Rudolf Kment and Dagmar Pánková. 

International Habitation Fair Mobitex Brno

 Students of our school took part in an important exhibiting project oriented onto presentation and propagation of progressive designs of secondary schools Desingstory 2007 organized by the Design Centre ČR and by the company Veletrhy Brno a.s.

Glastec, Düsseldorf, Germany 2006

  In this year of the Glastec fair in Düsseldorf, Germany, also Dagmar Pánková, a teacher of the Glass School Kamenický Šenov, took part together with two other Czech artists. There, her works were exhibited by the Welti Gallery. Dagmar Pánková started her close co-operation with the gallery woman Mrs. Daniela Welti, who - thanks to her Czech origin - positively tends to a prospective collaboration with our Glass School. 

Exhibit of the Year 2006

 he Glass Museum Kamenický Šenov announced the Exhibit of the Year 2006! This year visitors of probably any age group have been attracted by an exhibit in the exhibition of the glass school held in the basement of the museum from June 2 to Oct. 10. 

The Fourth Turnov Hammering

 This November we have again continued in our successful co-operation with the Secondary School of Applied Arts in Turnov. On Sunday, Nov. 11 we left with two students of the fourth year, Michaela Razímová and Tomáš Černý, for a week exchange trainee-ship.

A trip to Roma - October 2006

 At the beginning of this school year our school together with the glass school Nový Bor have organized a trip to Italy, this time sightseeing of Rome.

Glastec 2006

  A grandiose exhibition of machines, equipment and tools for glass industry took place from October 24 - 28, 2006 at the Glastec fair in Dusseldorf. There a group of 15 members of the Czech Glass Association participated. Among them also teachers from our Glass School: Ing. Jan Houferák, Mgr. Josef Kříž and a painting department teacher Mrs. Dagmar Pánková.

Regional Days Jablonec nad Nisou October 19 to 21, 2006

 In October our school took part in the Regional Days in Jablonec nad Nisou. There two students of the 3rd year Petra Schneiderová and Martina Pavízová showed engraving in an exhibiting pavillion of the Eurocentre. 

Dominik Bíman School

 On Aug. 14 and 20, 2006 the 6th year of the Dominik Bíman School, founded by an excellent Czech artist, medal maker and engraver, academic sculptor Jiří Harcuba, was held in our Glass School. 

Celebration of the 150th anniversary of the School foundation

 The celebrations of the anniversary had officially been opened as early as 2005, when the 4th International Symposium of Engraved Glass was held under that topic at Kamenický Šenov. 

IGS Nový Bor

 From October 11 to 15, 2006 there was held the 9th International Glass Symposium at Nový Bor. The symposium has been already for many years one of the most important events of its kind in the world. In this year´s symposium a number of important artistic personalities from both inland and abroad participated.
