Trip of the SUPŠS students to Vienna
Our glass school together with the glass school Nový Bor organized - as traditionally - an autumn trip of students to abroad. From October 19 to 21 we visited Vienna, the capital of Austria. Besides all the common showplaces and galleries - St. Stephen Cathedral, Albertinum, Belvedere, Pavilion of Secession, Schönbrunn and Hundertwasserhaus we visited also the shop and museum of the Lobmeyr company, that is closely connected with Kamenický Šenov. There, Mr. Peter Rath kindly described in detail the company history and showed us - despite the unfavorable weather - round the centre of Vienna.
Students could visit several interesting exhibitions. For example an unique selection of works by contemporary painters at the exhibition From Monet to Picasso and the collections of Viennese Museum of Applied Arts including a quite interesting collection of works from the Wiener Werkstätte period and with an unique collection of glass. On the way to Vienna we visited also the Romanesque Basilica of St. Prokop in Třebíč and the exhibition "The Czech Glass in Exile" in Brno.
