Celebrations of the 100th Anniversary of the Cutting Department, June 11 – 13, 2010.
The celebrations of the 100th anniversary of foundation of the cutting department at our school of the 110 anniversary of promotion of Kamenický Šenov to the town took part from June 11 – 13, 2010.
Within the celebrations the exhibition Refined Craft giving a historical overview of works of the cutting department was opened on Tuesday, June 8. On Friday, June 11, the Night of Glass and Light was held, organized by our school together with the Glass Museum. From 08,00 p.m. to the midnight, both the institutions opened their door to public. Visitors were attracted by numerous interesting events. In the school, they could see blowing at the microwave furnace, participate in dancing in the modelling shop as well as try cutting of their first glass piece. There was a quiz in knowledge of the glassmaking terminology and a competition for the most beautiful cut. Refreshment was catered to by the Mr. Šmíd´s company, who donated CZK 5,- from each meal sold to the school treasury. In the yard there were roasted sausages. The school was besieged by crowds of visitors, allowed to see all classrooms and workshops, as well as an exhibition of works of the students of the cutting department in the night illumination.
On Saturday, June 12, the celebrations continued in the Dvořáček Parkland, where the Českolipský Choir and the Lusitanian Grass group were singing. The top of the day was a performance of an amateurish theatre company, who showed the performance „How the Kamenický Šenov Inhabitants Electrized“ directed by Pavel Čech and featured by the mayor of the town Mr. Andrysík, Peter Rath from Vienna, the school director Janák and other teachers from the glass school together with members of the military historical club. The performance was moderated by Mrs. Kateřina Ditterová. For the whole Saturday, there was an open door day in the school. In the afternoon, a glass fountain, manufactured by graduates of the school together with its teachers was officially presented.
In the evening, a dance took place in the Club in lower Kamenický Šenov from 8,00. Within the scope of the celebrations, a meeting of school graduates was held, who passed a common resolution supporting preservation of the glass school, which would be sent to the Liberecký Region politicians. On Sunday morning, the mayor of the town Mr. Andrysík and the school director Janák placed a bouquet to the grave of the first director of the glass school Dvořáček. The celebrations were held under the auspices of the Liberecký Region Governor Mr. Stanislav Eichler.
