The Day of Earth

On April 22, the Prague Park Stromovka saw celebration of the Day of Earth, gifts for the ambassadors have been designed and manufactured by the SUPŠS Kamenický Šenov. Twelve new trees were planted by the Prague Mayor Pavel Bém together with ambassadors of the countries with Prague partners cities. On the occasion the Mayor together with his Deputy Marie Kousalíková and the councilor for environment Vladislav Mareček planted the 555 000th tree in Prague since 2006. Symbolically, it was the Czech national tree – Cordial Linden. For the ambassadors, there were also prepared gifts depicting glass trees, manufactured by the Secondary Glass Art School Kamenický Šenov. This oldest glass school in Central Europe, founded in 1856, has been endangered with closing because of lack of finances. Nevertheless, the Prague Magistrate offered the school help in the form of purchasing its products. The SUPŠS manufactured altogether 30 gift items designed by the head of the engraving department Mr. Ladislav Průcha and manufactured by trade masters.
