Already traditionally our school has participated in the competition National Prize for Student Design, held by the Design Cabinet CZ together with the Association of Secondary and Higher Professional Schools with Creative and Handicrafts Subjects, Society of Czech Architects, Union of Professional Designers CR and Union of Creative Artists CR. To the competition, final works of our students Žaneta Rychlá, Martina Doležalová and Kateřina Šípová were sent up. And it was the last one who won a Jury Prize for Secondary and Higher Professional Schools as well as the award Good Student Design 2009 regardless of category, where the works of secondary schools, higher professional schools and academies competed. Also Mgr.A Ladislav Průcha, the head of the engraving department at the SUPŠS Kamenický Šenov, won the award Good Student Design 2009 for his diploma work DUO for the Moser Co. Karlovy Vary.
The awarded final work „Tequila set“ by Kateřina Šípová is characterized by an imaginative design.
The basic concept of the set is the solution of the complicated way of consuming this drink. Each glass is composed of two parts. The lower one serves for salt and lemon placing. The upper part is constituted by the tequila glass itself. The glass lolly enclosed serves for the hygienic application of salt. The set has been manufactured in collaboration with the Ajeto Lindava company and under its kind sponsorship.
The awarded works had been first exhibited in the showing rooms of the Foundation for Development of Architecture and Building, Václavské Square 31 in Prague from Nov. 11 to Dec. 3, 2009.
Petra Černá, a student of the SUPŠS Kamenický Šenov, won the prize Outstanding Student Design 2005 in the same competition, then having been organized by the Design Centrum Brno, for her drinking set „Kaleidoscope“. In 2008, the final work by Pavla Bartáková – „Drinking Set“ – was put up as a candidate of the competition National Prize for Student Design for the Czech Grand Design – Newcomer of the Year – and subsequently chosen for the itinerant exhibition of Czech design New Ware, displayed in Stockholm, Moscow and Munich.
