Study Scholarships of Foreign Trainees.

In April 2012 further two foreign visiting students passed training in our school, following two Chinese students, who spent March in our school. That were Mrs. Batia Mach Shepherd, an Israeli sculptor, and Mr. Chester Lee, a Dutch teacher. Chester Lee had already finished our school´s workshops of mould melted glass and glass cutting and faceting in previous years. This year, he has chosen the a week-long workshop of glass fusing, slumping and sandblasting. Professionally headed by Dagmar Pánková, a workshop instructor, he created two objects using the technology as well as designed and sandblasted a decoration of a glass vase. He commented very positively both the helpfulness of the pedagogues of our school and Mrs. Dagmar Pánková´s professional approach. He also expressed his wish to pass another workshop in autumn.
Batia Mach Shepherd has selected a month-long workshop of mould melted glass. She tried several techniques of the mould manufacture including a lost wax mould. For the whole time of her stay she was assisted by Acad. Painter František Janák, the deputy headmaster and by Mgr.A. Petr Stacho, the head of the cut and engraved glass department.
Batia with her boyfriend also visited numerous cultural places of interest and glassworks. Among them there were the ruins of the Svojkov castle, the Ostrý hill, the Rock of Death in Kunratice or the rocky complexes in Hřensko and Malá Skála. Further, she visited the glassworks Jílek in Kamenický Šenov, the AJETO company in Lindava and the glass museums in Kamenický Šenov, Nový Bor, Jablonec nad Nisou and the S. Libenský´s museum in Železný Brod. Finally, she expressed her wish to come to our school again in order to improve her knowledge and experience in the mould manufacture and to learn other techniques.
