Participation of the SUPŠS Kamenický Šenov in the Project „Dress Prague“.
On March 16, 2010 the final part of the project „Dress Prague“ organized by the Prague Magistrate within the program Craft is Alive, took place in Prague. Our glass school manufactured prizes for the competition. The author of the winning trophy has been Mgr.A. Ladislav Průcha, head of the engraving department, who took also part in awarding together with František Janák, the school headmaster. In the origin of the trophies altogether 6 teachers from our school participated, under sponsorships of the companies Ajeto and DEWER from Nový Bor. Mr. Jaroslav Andrysík, mayor of Kamenický Šenov, also took part in the Prague event. At the occasion, our school was invited to display students´ works in the historical Mayor´s lounge, where the competition and awarding were held. The up stands for the exhibition were free borrowed from the Museum of Applied Arts Prague. Among several hundreds invited VIP guests, there were mayors of individual Prague districts, representatives of the Ministry of Education and numerous other political representatives and guests. Prague Mayor Bém and his Deputy Mrs. Kousalíková in their speaches specifically mentioned our school and its participation in creation of prizes and in the accompanying exhibition and accentuated the necessity of help for the school, which would lead to its saving. It was an outstanding publicity for our school. The school headmaster met there numerous important figures, who expressed their support for our school and received several new orders for manufacturing gift items for such events as the projects „Memory of the Nation“ and „Have You Got Your Tree?" Some other organizations expressed their interest in collaboration. Headmaster František Janák invited the winning team from the Higher Professional School of Fashion Design and Secondary School of Design Prague 7 to visit our school and/or to organize a workshop for their students which has been accepted. The event was very successful and beneficial and has confirmed the successfully developing collaboration between the Prague City and SUPŠS Kamenický Šenov. The SUPŠS Kamenický Šenov has successfully established collaboration with other Prague schools, e.g. the Hollar School and the Academy of Applied Arts Prague.
